Petroleum Sports Promotion Board – PSPB won the Gold Medal in the Men’s Team Event and Silver Medal in the Women’s Event in the recently concluded 11Sports 80th Senior National and Inter-State Table Tennis Championships-2018 in Cuttack, Odhisa. The Men’s team comprised of 9 times National Champion and Commonwealth Gold Medalist Sarath Kamal, former National Champion and Arjuna Arwadee Antony Amolraj, Sathiyan Gnanashekaran, Sudhanshu Grover and Manav Thakkar. The women’s team comprised of former national champions and Mouma Das, Madhurika Patkar, Asian Games Gold Medallist Manika Batra and current national Champion Archana Kamath.  In the Group Stages team PSPB won all the matches in straight sets in both Men’s and Women’s Events. In the Men’s Event Team PSPB cruised past Assam, Maharastra A and Delhi in the round of 16, quarter finals and semifinals respectively. In the final, Gujrat won a couple of games but a brilliant performance by G Sathyan in the final game helped the gold medal holders to retain the title.  In the Women’s team event also did not drop a single set against Delhi, Telengana and Maharastra in the round of 16, quarter final and the semifinal respectively. In the final against West Bengal, Manika Batra of PSPB lost the 1st set to Mousumi Pal of West Bengal. Madhurika Patkar leveled the match at 1-1 by winning her set against Krittwika Sinha Roy but Mouma Das and Manika Batra lost to Ayhika Mukherjee and Krittwika SinhaRoy respectively in the 3rd and 4th sets to lose the match 3-2.
