The Petroleum Sports Promotion Board (PSPB) proudly concluded its Summer Camp 2025, a vibrant 10-day multi-sport initiative designed to nurture young talent across Cricket, Chess, Badminton, Basketball, and Table Tennis. With over 200 enthusiastic participants, all children of employees from PSPB’s Member Companies, the camp proved to be a resounding success in fostering a dynamic sporting culture within the Oil & Gas sector.
This initiative not only offered professional-level training in a structured environment but also aimed to inspire the next generation of athletes by promoting values such as discipline, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
The valedictory ceremony was graced by Ms. Sabeena Chowdhary (Member Secretary, PSPB), Shri Lalit Watts (Advisor, PSPB), and Shri Sandeep Sarkaria (Joint Secretary, PSPB). They commended the dedication of the young athletes, distributing Certificates, Medals, Appreciation Awards as tokens of recognition and encouragement. Ms. Chowdhary also engaged personally with the participants, offering her best wishes for their future in sports.
Adding a global dimension, Ekaterina from the Russian Centre for Science and Culture (RCSC) interacted with the chess trainees, bringing an international flavour to the camp. Former international basketball player and ex-national coach Mohit Bhandari (ONGC) also motivated budding basketball players with his insights and experience.
Each sport was led by a team of seasoned coaches who brought dedication and expertise to the sessions:
- Cricket: Led by Shri Tilak Raj, supported by junior coach Keval Kumar, conducting comprehensive training involving technical drills and match simulations.
- Table Tennis: Mentored by a dynamic coaching team comprising Sapna Ruhela, Sneha Shah, Roma Patel, Chirag Aggarwal, Shaik Khasim Saida, Pijush Paul, and Ayushman Ojha, offering personalized tactical guidance.
- Basketball: Driven by Mahfooz Ahmed, a FIBA Level 2 certified coach, and Mohd Anas, a national-level player from Delhi University, focusing on fundamentals, agility, and team strategy.
- Badminton: Headed by Rajnish Tiwari, with senior coaches Kabir Goswami and Piyush, and junior coach Kulbhushan, emphasizing footwork, technique, and competitive mindset.
- Chess: Guided by expert mentors R. S. Tiwari, Bhanesh Taneja, K. S. Kalsi, Hamid Hasan, and Sandeep Kumar, who sharpened analytical and strategic skills through engaging challenges.
Beyond athletic development, the camp placed a strong emphasis on holistic growth, encouraging self-discipline, mental focus, and character building.
With expert coaching, enthusiastic participation, and meaningful engagement from both national and international figures, PSPB’s Summer Camp 2025 stood as a testament to its enduring commitment to sports development and youth empowerment in the energy sector.
